Resident Senior Geophysicist (in Yerevan) on EU Tacis (Technical Assistance to the C.I.S.) project assessing the hydrocarbon potential of Armenia. Data gathering, training, advising, liaising with government as well as performing technical tasks, under quite difficult conditions. An extension to this project, involving promotion of exploration acreage to IOCs, and seismic reprocessing, followed.
Deputy Project Manager (and Senior Geophysicist) on Tacis project, ‘New Oilfield Development in South Tyumen’, 1996-7, which entailed social, legal and environmental aspects as well as a large technical component. Particular involvement in data gathering, geological and seismic interpretation.
General Manager and Chief Geophysicist for AAEC from April 1997 to July 2003. Responsible for setting up and supervising of office, organising seismic and geological exploration program, day-to-day liaison with Armenian government officials and ministers, also drilling operations with AAEC’s own drilling rig. Technical work continued following well completion July 1998. Wrote a detailed business plan and created other materials to attract a new investor, which eventually resulted in licence re-assignment to a Canadian oil company.
Spring 2005 agreed with the Armenian Ministry of Energy an eighteen month review of blocks 4, 5 and 6 (SE Armenia Project) with subsequent exclusive rights to negotiate PSAs in any area of interest. In April 2007 a PSA was signed for the total area, for an Irish / Canadian consortium.
Senior Interpreter on 3D seismic surveys offshore Gabon, and more recently on major 3D survey over gas discovery in Bangladesh, using Seisworks and ZMap software.
